Airlie Beach and sailing the Whitsunday Islands
[mileage: 4552 km] I drove 2 days around 700 km and there was nothing to see on the highway than just dry trees, towns like Mackay, Rockhampton and Gladstone. With the help of my Camping Guide (Camp 3) I found a camping area for free on the Carmila Beach south of Mackay. The last 1 km was 4WD access but as it was raining like hell there was no problem even without 4WD. All the day it was sunshine and when I arrived it was raining, raining and raining. I just thought lets cook and get a good sleep and next day forward to Airlie Beach.
Airlie Beach the second Las Vegas of Australia is just a town for Party or sailing. There is nothing more. You can’t swim in the ocean (just in a Lagoon) and there is a 500m walk along the beach that’s all. I decided to book a sailing trip with some girls who I contacted through hc. The sailing trip was just great and with snorkelling, free introduction dive, stars looking on deck and party every night one of the highlights of my trip. I will let the pictures speak…
